ZOZOFIT Lets Users Track Progress at All Levels: An Interview with Erik Vanderlip
Erik Vanderlip has been using ZOZOFIT since 2023 to track his body composition and see how it changes as he improves his diet and exercise regimen.
Because of ZOZOFIT’s unique 3D body scanning technology, understanding overall health is much easier — and much more accurate — than other tracking tools like the traditional scale, taking measurements with a measuring tape, or using progress pictures.
This makes it easy to track and see progress, and stay motivated to keep going. Another way to stay motivated is set goals, which is exactly what Erik did.
New Year’s Resolution for Fitness
When Erik first started using ZOZOFIT, he said he wasn’t following any specific diet, but had started adding exercise into his routine.
“I didn’t understand a lot of things about fitness,” he said.
But, at the end of 2023, he made a New Year’s Resolution.
“I wanted to really focus on fitness and I looked into diets and macros, switched to whole foods, and [started] adding the right amount of protein.” His plan also included decreasing the amount of snacks he ate and quitting alcohol.
“I’m getting older, so getting healthy probably ain’t the worst thing to do.”
Erik started 2024 at 218 pounds and 25% body fat. Despite working out before this, he didn’t look how he wanted to. But, with his New Year’s Resolution in mind, Erik began to make changes. Adding supplements and protein was part of that. When he checked in with us in June 2024, he said he’s already seen so much progress.
“In May, I [had] the lowest body fat I’ve ever been at and had good strength levels, so I’ve come pretty far,” he said. “It helps being able to measure and see the differences, and also see the numbers, so you can compare. It adds up and keeps you motivated.”
Erik’s now down to 190 pounds with less body fat and more muscle mass, saying that ZOZOFIT helped him see the small changes that would be easy to overlook.
Small Details Make a Big Difference
Seeing the small details and changes in his body through ZOZOFIT helps Erik stay motivated to keep pushing hard and meet his goals.
Since starting with ZOZOFIT, he’s completed ten scans. While he definitely uses it to track his body fat and waist measurements, he also has been watching his muscle growth. Often muscle growth shows up slowly, so something like ZOZOFIT which digitizes the measurement information and lets you look at a 3D mesh version of your body can make it easier to see change from an “outside” perspective.
Building muscle means that he is bulking up, but ZOZOFIT can show the small changes and help him see that he’s gaining the “weight” that he wants.
“As I gain weight, ZOZOFIT allows me to be really picky with the progress I’m making, so that I am making sure that I’m putting it on the way I want. I like being able to track that progress every time I get in [the ZOZOSUIT] to make sure I’m still going in the right direction."
As far as long-term goals, Erik hopes to reach 200-210 pounds through building muscle mass. While weight gain might have been scary for him previously, he knows that now he’s chasing his goals.
“[ZOZOFIT] is also helping me set future goals and track them realistically,” he said.
While in his bulking phase, Erik is paying special attention to his chest and arms.
“I want to focus on adding a little bit of size to my frame. I look a little small, but I still want to do it in a healthy way [using the suit].”
Fitness Tracking Made Easy
One of the biggest benefits of ZOZOFIT for Erik is how easy it is to take measurements.
“With the suit you can do the scan and it takes five minutes to go through and check your body composition,” he said. Before using ZOZOFIT, it could take him up to an hour to measure each individual body part with a measuring tape.
He also likes being able to share screenshots of his scans with social media followers and in weight lifting forums.
The ZOZOFIT app’s goal-setting feature is also a favorite. Erik uses it to set specific body part measurement goals and then track his progress overtime. He also uses the side-by-side comparison to see just how much he has changed over time.
“I’m just pushing myself to new levels,” he said. “I have fun with it. I do enjoy it a lot, and since I’m seeing results, it’s keeping me going. I’m not getting bored with it.”
