1,980 Days and Counting: How Leslie Samuel’s Relentless Commitment to Fitness Took Shape with ZOZOFIT
For Leslie Samuel, a father of young kids, the defining moment in his health journey came on a basketball court. What should have been a casual family activity turned into a wake-up call when he found himself winded after a single sprint.
“I remember going from one side of the court to the next,” Leslie recalls, “and by the time I put the ball in the basket, I was knocked out. That’s when I realized I was not in good shape, and I never wanted to feel that way again.”
That pivotal moment became the catalyst for change. Determined to be present and active for his children, Leslie made a vow: to take control of his health and fitness, once and for all.
The Early Days: From Beachbody to CrossFit
Leslie didn’t waste any time. His first steps into fitness came through at-home programs like Beachbody’s Insanity workouts that required no equipment but delivered results. Gradually, he added in gear, built a home gym in his garage, and also spent time doing CrossFit, which introduced him to a community and strength-building regimen he enjoyed.
“CrossFit helped me build muscle,” he says, “but I realized my cardio was lacking, so I added in Insanity to balance it out. That combination gave me both strength and stamina.”
It wasn’t long before Leslie’s commitment escalated. What started as a few home workouts turned into a full lifestyle transformation.
1,980 Days of Movement — No Matter What
Recently, Leslie completed nearly 2,000 consecutive days of exercise without skipping once. Whether he's traveling, parenting, or juggling work, fitness remains non-negotiable.
“I committed to exercising every single day for at least 30 minutes,” Leslie explains. “Today is day 1,980. That’s the year I was born, so it’s kind of poetic.”
He admits the streak started as a simple goal — closing rings on his Apple Watch — but the momentum took over. Now, the idea of breaking the streak is out of the question.
“When I’m traveling, the first thing I do is figure out where I’ll work out. I’ve done 45-minute walks at 2:00 AM after long road trips. I just don’t give myself the option to skip.”
Tracking Progress with Precision
With such an intense commitment, Leslie needed tools to measure his progress, not just on the scale, but across all dimensions of health. That’s when he discovered ZOZOFIT.
“I started using ZOZOFIT on September 1st as part of the 75 Hard program,” Leslie says, referring to a fitness and mental toughness challenge that includes daily workouts, water intake, diet adherence, and progress tracking. “The challenge required daily photos, but I wanted more than just pictures. I wanted measurements.”
He had seen ads for ZOZOFIT and decided to give it a try. The results? Exactly what he was looking for and then some.
“I liked that I could track how my body was changing, not just my weight,” he says. “In the beginning, I scanned weekly. Now, I scan every single day. It’s part of my morning routine.”
The Power of Data
For Leslie, ZOZOFIT offers more than convenience, it offers control. He uses his daily scans to track subtle changes and identify trends early.
“About a month ago, I pulled back on my intense workouts due to a minor injury and just did 30-minute walks,” he explains. “I noticed through the ZOZOFIT scans that my waist area was starting to expand more than I wanted. That helped me adjust right away.”
Data, he believes, is power. In addition to ZOZOFIT, Leslie uses an Apple Watch, a smart scale, food-tracking app MacroFactor, DEXA scans every few months, and blood panels to get a full picture of his health.
“I want to know everything I can about my body,” he says. “The more information I have, the more I can tweak, improve, and stay on track.”

Making ZOZOFIT Part of the Routine
Leslie has optimized his environment to eliminate excuses. In his garage gym, everything is in its place: scale, camera, tripod, and phone mount for scanning. “I’ve made it ridiculously easy to make the right choice,” he says.
ZOZOFIT fits perfectly into this system. Each morning, before any other activity, Leslie weighs himself, takes progress photos, and completes his scan. “I even travel with my ZOZOSUIT and have a full setup ready to go,” he says.
He’s a fan of ZOZOFIT’s features, particularly the ColorMetric visualization tool and the app's side-by-side scan comparisons. “It helps me see exactly where I’ve made progress and where things might need attention.”
Staying Motivated
For anyone wondering how Leslie stays committed, the answer is part mindset, part preparation, and part gamification.
“Some days I don’t feel like doing anything,” he admits. “But I remind myself: the people who succeed aren’t the ones who always want to work out. They’re the ones who do it anyway.”
When motivation dips, he leans on routine, flexibility, and consistency. “If I need a break, I go for a walk. But I still move. That’s the minimum, and I always meet it.”
Words of Encouragement
Leslie’s story isn’t just about numbers or streaks, it’s about creating a system that works, and then showing up for yourself every single day.
“I removed every roadblock. I don’t have to think about it. I just do it,” he says. “It’s like brushing my teeth, it's all just a part of who I am now.”
To others starting their fitness journeys, Leslie offers this advice: “Don’t wait for motivation. Create systems, remove friction, and keep showing up. You don’t have to be perfect, just be consistent.”
