In this edition of Healthy Eats, we bring you a delectable (and healthy) tuna tartare recipe to enjoy!

A few weeks ago, boxer and personal trainer Dillon Hanson shared with ZOZOFIT his go-to chicken and potato bake recipe (which you can find HERE), and now Dillon's back with even more healthy eats today: his delectable tuna tartare recipe which he describes as "a really healthy dish with great source of protein and omega-three fatty acids."

Check out how to make Dillon's tuna tartare recipe below:

Ingredients:

1 pound of Ahi Tuna (fresh, sushi grade tuna fillet)

For The Marinade:

1 teaspoon ginger grated

1 teaspoon garlic grated

11/2 Tablespoon soy sauce

1 teaspoon lime juice

2 tablespoons sweet chilli sauce

2 teaspoons cilantro minced

2 tablespoons scallions minced

1 tablespoon sesame oil

1 teaspoon Sriracha sauce (optional)

3 tablespoons sesame seeds (mixed white and black sesame)

For the Avocado Mixture:

2 avocado diced

2 teaspoons lime juice

3 tablespoons scallions minced

1 tablespoon sesame oil or any neutral oil

Salt (as desired)

 Cutting fresh tuna

Always make sure your knife is sharp when cutting fresh tuna.

Dillon's Directions:

First, start by patting your fish dry with a paper towel. Then, cut the Tuna into small cubes (about 1 cm cubed) using a sharp knife. Tuna is very fleshy and could loose its shape or texture of you cut through it with a dull knife - so make sure you use a sharp knife!

Next, it’s time to make the sauce. In a separate bowl, mix together ginger, garlic, sweet chili, soy sauce, scallions, sriracha (if desired), cilantro, rice vinegar, sesame oil, sesame seeds, and lime juice.

Once the sauce is mixed together, add it to the bowl with the Tuna and mix everything together until coated, and let it sit for 15- 25 minutes. Note: do not let your fish marinate more than 30 minutes as you will end up with a cured fish rather than a tartare.

Now, it's time to prepare your avocado mixture. Add the cubed avocado in a separate bowl, and then add in the lime juice, scallions, oil, sesame seeds, and salt, and mix everything together until it's well blended.

When complete, you can then serve your tuna tartare with pita chips or cucumber rounds for a super tasty and impressive dish that's also very good for you.
